Ben Stockden / SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, MECHANICAL DESIGNER

Ben commenced working with McDowall Affleck in 2006 as a Trainee Draftsman and subsequently completed his Diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering in 2010. Ben has continuously improved his skills with several training courses, both technical and managerial, throughout his time at McDowall Affleck, with a particular passion for Project Management.

Ben started his career as a civil and structural draftsman, splitting his time between both disciplines. As a civil draftsman, Ben completed work on simple subdivision as well as sewer and water main extensions. As a structural draftsman, Ben has completed designs and various levels of drafting on a range of projects involving concrete, steel and timber construction. After receiving his Diploma, Ben progressed to a Structural Designer and was involved in completing inspections and providing design advice for a range of structural projects such as school library and resource centres, showroom and warehouse developments as well as completing work on an $20m+ winery project.

Ben moved into the Mechanical team in October 2017 to learn new skills and use his 10+ years’ experience in design, modelling, drafting, client management and project management for various mechanical projects and clients.

Ben has continued to cultivate and nurture his zest for management, both project and otherwise. In 2020, Ben became the Production Manager for the Mechanical and Structural teams, organising the internal and external resources and identifying potential future workload issues. At the beginning of the 2022/23 financial year, Ben moved into the Commercial Manager’s role for the Mechanical team, taking on further responsibility and accountability for the performance of the team.

Ben became an owner in the business in 2021, in his 15th year with the company.
