Project: Collector Wind Farm
Location: Cullerin, NSW
Duration: 2 Months
The Collector Wind Farm is located on the Cullerin Range between the Hume Highway and the Collector-Gunning Road in the NSW Southern Tablelands. This location was chosen because it is in one of the windiest regions in NSW (within one of six renewable energy precincts identified by the NSW Government). There is a strong grid connection point to export the clean power generated. The village of Collector is approximately 4km south-east from the nearest of the turbines. Stage 1 of the collector Wind Farm consists of 33 Wind Turbines.
The scope of work included; the design of turbine access tracks, substation and crane pads, WTG foundations and site compound.
The project challenges were the hilly terrain and the uncertainty on reuse of cut to fill.
McDowall Affleck used the highly specialised resources that were familiar with Acciona’s standards and we adopted retaining structures to avoid excessive earthworks.
