McDowall Affleck undertook the design and drafting of cast iron water reticulation renewals for Civcon, under a design and construction package awarded by the Water Corporation. Construction works were undertaken within existing road reserves and all underground services required mapping to facilitate the design and construction.

We took care of the design and drafting of the plan, long-section and connection details, safety in design reporting, support during construction and drafting of as-constructed plans.

Our challenges were the design in a brownfields environment, trying to maintain the minimum cover over the pipework and any unknown underground services.

With close liaison with the contractor and service locators we managed to overcome any issues for preferred alignment, varying depth and design to navigate above and below services and support during construction for design amendments.
