Built in the 1960s, the John Leckie Pavilion was in dire need of a facelift to increase its usability to the growing population of the area. The City of Nedlands decided to undertake alterations to extend the spectator viewing areas between sport ovals, upgrade the existing organ loft, and renovate the existing building and facilities.
McDowall Affleck were appointed as the Structural Engineers to inspect the existing structure (which was a mixture of masonry, timber, and reinforced concrete) and assess the most appropriate way of carrying out the desired alterations.
The project was a great success and was nominated in the 2013 Master Builders Awards.
