The Avenue

McDowall Affleck was commissioned by De Mol Group of Companies in liaison with the City of Swan to superintend civil construction works associated with the extension of The Avenue (now called the Junction Parade) through existing Midland Oval between Sayer and Keane Street, Midland. The completion of this work was very important for De Mol Group of Companies who completed a multi-story unit development and required a through road fronting their development.

We administered a contract to AS 4000 – 1997 General Conditions of Contract, liaising with relevant authorities and site inspections and documentation as required during construction. Other roles under the contract also included issuing variations, assessing extensions of time, assessing claims for payment, issuing certificates including payment certificates, Practical Completion and Final Certificates, checking insurances are in place and ensuring securities are in place.

Civil construction extended into the winter, which wasn’t ideal as the site was clay, but McDowall Affleck worked closely with the City of Swan to ensure any extreme measures which took place was suitable and cost effective to resolve any issues due to the wet weather conditions encountered during the winter months.

Being located in Midland and the project being in Midland enabled fast responses and service during the construction period.
