Michael Ferritto / MANAGING DIRECTOR & PRINCIPAL CIVIL ENGINEER

One of McDowall Affleck’s longest serving employees, Michael, joined the firm in 1992 shortly after achieving his bachelor’s degree in engineering. Michael has dedicated his life to building the company into what it is today and he is not only a Principal Civil Engineer, but is the Managing Director.

Michael’s exposure to many drainage issues over the years giving practical and economical solutions means he now has extensive design capabilities for drainage design on difficult sites. His expertise in solving drainage problems for local authorities such as the Town of Cottesloe, Perth Airports and Shire of Mundaring shows his adaptability to varying soil and topography types.

One of Michael’s key areas of expertise is land development including design, tender and superintendence. Michael has managed a range of land development projects from 2 to 250 lots including Helena Valley Road Estate, Kingsview Estate Landsdale, Breakwater Estate Two Rocks and Spring Park Estate Viveash.

Michael has extensive expertise in road design, earthwork and local traffic management design and He has been involved in all facets of construction project management. This involves providing planning, managing the tender process, construction cost estimates, management of contractors and liaison between the clients and contractors for fee payments. Michael has been Superintendent of Contracts under either AS4000 or AS214 which has seen him successfully managed hundreds of contracts since 1992.

His experience has ranged from undertaking geotechnical site investigations, subsequent design of residential construction on these sites, inspection and determination of causes to cracked houses and subsequent remediation thereof including underpinning design and construction. Through these activities he has built up a good level of experience and knowledge of potential problem areas in the Perth Regional Area.
