Rob Smith re-joined McDowall Affleck in May 2022 after working with McDowall Affleck previously between February 2020 and April 2021 and between 2011 and 2014. He has most recently worked at GHD and some of his responsibilities included:
Client liaison for projects in regards to design, regulatory issues, budgets and time frames on projects. Negotiations with councils and other regulatory authorities. Design and documentation of Drainage, Road, Levels, Sewer, Water Supply, Civil and Hydraulics design. Civil Design, Infrastructure Extensions, Servicing and Insurance Reports, Flood Studies, Project Management and Hydraulic design. Inspections on existing projects to determine deficiencies and solutions to meet client needs. Fee proposals for new projects and building relationships with clients. Liaising and managing fellow staff to ensure projects are completed in agreed time frames.
Between 2014 and 2020, Rob worked for Kehoe Myers Consulting Engineers in Toowoomba, Indesco Engineering in Canberra and Barker Harle in Newcastle.
Rob is highly skilled in civil, hydraulic and structural design, superintendence on civil and land development projects, client liaison, project design and management, managing regulatory requirements, negotiations with councils and other regulatory authorities, and design and documentation of drainage, road, sewer, water supply and other civil works.
He has extensive experience in mining camps and associated infrastructure, infrastructure extensions and reports, flood studies, concrete design, project management, fire hose reels and hydrant design.
