Ocean Forest Lutheran College Learning Centre
The team at McDowall Affleck worked closely with the client, Steve Mueller Architects to assist them in achieving their vision for the $1.85 million Learning Centre. The team produced an innovative design using a combination of a two storey concrete tilt panel structure and a large open structure using steel framing. Challenges for the site involved the proximity of the building to the WA coastline which creates a higher wind loading on the structure as well as a more aggressive environment o the elements of the building construction.
Karalundi Multi Purpose Hall –Meekathara
The structural team worked on the design for the community facility for Karalundi Aboriginal Community in Meekathara. The use of rammed earth walls and steel roofing structure was designed to fit in with the existing community building. The design was completed so that the architectural intent to meet community requirements and expectations was achieved.
Shire of Kalamunda Supervisors Office
The Shire of Kalamunda wished to relocated a number of their maintenance supervisors into an office at their depot. The team were involved in the design of a masonry and steel framed structure to suit the specific requirements of the architect in order to meet the Shire of Kalamunda’s needs.
